Hotel Tzante

Pleasant choice with a friendly feel and some attractive touches both inside and outside. It is well vegetated around the pool and the accommodation buildings but slightly cramped around the rather small pool and terrace. The usual bar and snack facilities are on offer but it can provide a restaurant if arrangements are made with UK tour operators. It could not be much more central for the nightlife and central amenities but could also be noisy in the evenings and nighttimes as a result. Mainly used by young guests from a major UK youth tour operator who will enjoy this location in the heart of the resort and a few steps down the road to the beach. It is in a handy location to take a boat trip from the beach to visit the turtles in the Marine Park. For those interested in shopping and an authentic Greek flavour, Zakynthos Town is the best bet.

More characterful than usual 3-storey cream and white building with wooden shutters, intricate metal or balustrade balconies and flowering facade creepers. Over 3-storeys and 4 blocks with tiled roofs on the buildings. A tiled terrace is to the front of the building used for restaurant seating on occasions when this service is offered. Interior

The single central interior is open-plan, slightly dated but of good quality and quite atmospheric. It is dominated by a large marble bar surrounded by leather sofas. In one corner is the reception desk near the entrance.

Grounds

A raised tiled pool terrace is to one side of the main building and shielded from the main road. Tropical plants are around the edge with some rows of tightly packed sunbeds. A glass-fronted single-storey snack bar building has large thatched parasols outside and wooden bench seats.

Location

Area Type: Right on the main commercial strip, in the heart of the resort with bars, clubs, shops and eateries along the road in both directions. It is opposite a patch of wasteland. A taxi rank and the bus stop are 150 yds away by the beach. Local buses and taxis (also called from reception) can be obtained for the short cheap journey to Zakynthos Town or to the surrounding local area, including neighbouring Kalamaki.
